In 2023, Alexander Sorokin became the new dean of the School of Social Sciences and Area Studies. Among his research interests are socio-environmental research and social research into higher education, and science. In this interview, Prof. Sorokin talks about new educational programmes, partner research, and mobility directions.

As an international hub, HSE University-St Petersburg is committed to actively engaging with the global academic community. Internationalisation remains a top priority and core value at our campus. To this end, HSE University-St Petersburg strives to develop existing international partnerships and establish new ones in various parts of the world. This focus allows the university to provide students with an international environment and educational programmes that meet global standards. Such active work in the sphere of international relations opens up numerous opportunities for HSE students, from academic mobility and double-degree programmes to daily communication with professors and other students from all over the world. HSE University continues to develop cooperation with educational institutions in the Asia-Pacific region. A delegation from HSE University-St Petersburg participated in the annual conference 'International Convention for Global Partnerships' in New Delhi.

A report by researchers from the Strategic Entrepreneurship Centre received an award at the international conference AIB-MENA (Academy of International Business—Middle-East North Africa) in Morocco. The authors of the work were Galina Shirokova and Aleksandra Zakharova.

In the framework of a major academic mission to Latin America, a delegation from HSE University visited the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV), a Brazilian higher education institution and analytical centre for training specialists in administration. Representatives of FGV have expressed their interest in signing a cooperation agreement in the spheres of media communications and game theory.

HSE University and the Adolfo Ibáñez University (UAI) in Chile have signed a letter of intent. The document was signed by Anna Tyshetskaya, Director of HSE University-St Petersburg, and Claudio Osorio, Vice President of UAI's Viña del Mar campus. This is the first agreement between HSE and a Chilean university.
