At the level of the best master's programs in logistics and supply chain management: results of Professor Rob Zuidwijk's classes in St. Petersburg

In November 2019, Professor Rob Zuidwijk (Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University, Netherlands) held classes at the Higher School of Economics - St. Petersburg with masters of the Strategic Management in Logistics programme within the framework of the Integrated Supply Chain Planning discipline. Each meeting with students turned into a fascinating discussion on topical research in the field of:
  • Global Supply Network Design (global supply chain scenarios while using a quantitative tool);
  • Intermodal and SynchromodalNetworks (design, planning and execution of intermodal network services);
  • Sustainable Supply Chains (the development of sustainable ports in their role as hub in global networks);
  • Inter-organizational systems in Global Logistics(the basic concepts on information systems and the value of information; the basic notions of global trade and logistics management systems and their benefits).

Rob Zuidwijk is a professor of Ports in Global Networks at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM). His work has been published in journals like California Management Review, Transportation Science, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, Communications of the ACM, and Production and Operations Management. He has participated and coordinated funded research projects in the area of international logistics and container transport. Professor Zuidwijk received his PhD in Mathematics from Erasmus University and has held a one-year visiting position at the University of California at Los Angeles.
