Qualitative Research

The qualitative workstream of CHEMP stretches in a number of directions ranging from a study on adherence to medication among cardiovascular patients, to an exploration of stigma among the mental health community of St. Petersburg, to a focus-group oriented investigation into the population's attitudes to and perceptions of the recent anti-tobacco legislation in Russia. Dr Peter Meylakhs, who is also involved in ground-breaking work examining drug use among Russian youth and HIV denialism, leads this workstream. Future work will seek to use qualitative methods to explore the population's understanding of 'health' and 'good health' in Russia, with a view to informing the development of outcome based studies.
